Posted in: Meet the TPG Team
We’re concluding the year with another chance to meet the TPG Team. Here’s someone that we’d be lost without; our office manager, Alison Hawkins.
Alison has been a part of the TPG team for 6 Years. In other words, since day one.
She wears a lot of different hats (although not literally) and manages to contribute in every way imaginable by doing a little bit of everything.
According to the Surveyors, one of her most important jobs is tea-maker but we’d say that her admin, marketing, and HR roles are a lot more impressive and invaluable.
Due to the nature of property maintenance, there are no typical days.
My work is dictated by what needs to be done on a particular day and since we can’t guarantee what calls will come in and what we’ll need to deal with, no two days are ever the same.
What you can guarantee is that it will always be busy and there will always be something to do.
As organised as I like to be, I also prefer to be busy and there’s nothing better than the all-hands-on-deck scenario when something has to be done immediately and done right.
The satisfaction when the issue is resolved is always great, especially when we’ve worked as a team to get the result we need.
Of course, it’s also nice to go back to a client, tell them you’ve resolved their issue and that it’s a job well done.
Work – I don’t think I can pinpoint any one moment. There have been a few things that we’ve achieved where I’ve thought “I helped do that” and that brings a great deal of satisfaction. It’s also been quite nice watching TPG grow from day one, when there were only three of us, to the TPG we have today.
Life – Definitely my two girls. Between the two of them, they keep me on my toes and there’s never a dull moment. They make me appreciate every day and stop me from feeling too old.
Usually my alarm clock!! I like to get into the office early and get set up for the day.
I like to plan and be organised and if I’m running late then it seems to put my whole day out but also I like the unpredictability that property maintenance and facilities management brings.
You never know what you’re going to come in to and what emergencies you will need to get involved with.
I can’t ride a bike. I have no real sense of balance so you can count me out of anything that requires this; skateboards, roller skates, stairs, and sometimes even walking!
I once went on holiday to the Isle of Wight where I fell down 3 different sets of stairs in the same week. I’ve also fallen down the stairs in my house dozens of times, even breaking my coccyx on one occasion!
Be organised and plan ahead.
If an emergency arises then you are more likely to be in a position to deal with it if the rest of your working day is organised and you’re up to date.
Alison and the rest of the TPG team are here to help, just give us a call today.
We’ll be introducing more of the TPG team soon, keep a lookout for our next blog coming soon.
